Following the statistics of his father's birth, migration to America, and death, Muir writes: ""Few lives that I know were more restless and eventful than his-few more toilsome and full of enthusiastic endeavor onward towards light and truth and eternal love through the midst of the devil's terrestrial strife and darkness, and faithless misunderstanding that well-nigh overpowered him at times .... Daniel Muir died October 6th, 1885, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the residence of his daughter Joana, in the 82nd year of his age.""
