Description

Pat Griffin is the Founding Director of Changing the Game (an education and advocacy program focused on addressing LGBT issues in K-12 school-based athletic and physical education programs), Professor Emeritus in the Social Justice Education Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the former Director of It Takes a Team! Education Campaign for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Issues in Sport, an initiative of the Women’s Sports Foundation. Professor Griffin has an extensive research and publication history in the areas of heterosexim/homophobia in education, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender teachers and students. And heterosexism/homophobia in athletics. For the past 25 years Professor Griffin has led seminars on diversity issues and lesbian and gay issues in athletics at numerous colleges and universities as well as at coaches and athletic administrators’ association meetings around the United States and Canada. She is acknowledged as one of the pioneers and leaders in addressing LGBT issues in sports.
