Introduction/Context/Diagnosis
This project showcases the pivotal role of diagnostic tools and restorative dentistry in rejuvenating patients' smiles. A recall patient presenting for a full mouth series X-rays revealed a significant radiolucent lesion at the apex of tooth #10, prompting an endodontic consultation and subsequent treatment. Following successful endodontic therapy, the patient was deemed ready for final restoration. In a comprehensive discussion of treatment options, emphasis was placed on achieving proper color matching, particularly for the tooth within the aesthetic zone. Additionally, the potential benefits of tooth whitening before shade matching were explained. Further exploration revealed the patient's dissatisfaction with a black triangle between her front teeth, prompting consultation with Dr. Hakim to develop a tailored treatment plan. Together, it was determined that three veneers and one crown would effectively address the space and fulfill the patient's desire for a radiant smile. Communication with the patient through wax-up models played a critical role throughout the process, ensuring her involvement and trust in the treatment plan. By combining examination with patient-centered discussions and collaborative treatment planning, transformative outcomes can be achieved, restoring dental health and confidence and satisfaction in one's smile. Although some areas for adjustment and perfection were identified post-completion, the patient's satisfaction with the results speaks volumes about the project's success. This project exemplifies the importance of patient-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration in achieving transformative outcomes in restorative dentistry.
