Introduction/Context/Diagnosis
To compare distinct characteristics of the restorative materials i.e., Zirconia and PFM for long-span FPDs.
Methods/Treatment Plan
An extensive literature search was undertaken using the electronic databases of PubMed, and Web of Science. The keywords used were FPD, Zirconia, PFM, flexural strength, esthetic, and longevity. The literature ranged from 1998 to 2022. 22 pieces of literature were reviewed, including meta-analyses, literature reviews, systemic reviews, comprehensive reviews, retrospective studies, comparative studies, prospective studies, case-control studies, clinical trials, in-vitro studies, and research articles.
Results/Outcome
Several factors like strength, esthetics, fracture resistance, marginal fit, and survival rates of the restorative material were compared, giving the clinician a chance to refer to and decide what materials to use.
Significance/Conclusions
Several factors like strength, esthetics, fracture resistance, marginal fit, and survival rates of the restorative material were compared, giving the clinician a chance to refer to and decide what materials to use.
