Abstract
Environmental sustainability is one of the most important issues in the modern world. This paper argues that the information systems (IS) and information technology (IT) profession needs to put more emphasis on this topic. It is no longer adequate to address the issue only by recycling used IT equipments. The issue needs to be addressed from an entirely systems development lifecycle perspective. The paper describes a revised systems development lifecycle (SDLC) that takes environmental issues into consideration.
