I went and inquired ofthe Dr. and he said Robert wasusing the sorrel more, which goesin the gig, and there was no otherhorse which we could drive well.We were, therefore, about makingup our minds to stay at home,when Robert came with the morewhich was speedily harnessed, andwe set off. Dr. went before on horseback. We found some difficultyin crossing the stream at the footof the hill, owing to the awkwardnessof the driver (myself). We wentover the new bridge which Elmer hasmade near his house, and by thehouse to the garden. The pinks arejust beginning to bloom, and arevery fragrant.
