Have been writing toMrs. Burt. Dr. wrote to Mr. Burtand took the letters to the P. O.and found there a letter for usfrom Mr. & Mrs. Burt. Neitherof us have written for nearly fourmonths, and then we bothchanced to write at the sametime. Mrs. Burt is not verywell. She has sores on one of herlegs, just above the ankle.Mr. Walker called here tonightalso Mr. Vincent.Aug. 8. T.S.R. 66. 2 P.M. 104. S.S. 86.Aug. 9. T.S.R. 56. 2 P.M. 104. S.S. 83.This morning, as I was endeavoringto do up a little housework,Rev. & Mrs. Bryer with three littlechildren came here. Should havebeen extremely glad to have seenthem, if I had felt well. But, asit was, we had a very pleasantAug. 9. time. Found Mrs. Bryer verycompanionable. She is a Vermontlady, and quite intelligent. Theyhave three pretty little girls - MaryHelen & Alice - the youngest six mos.old. After dinner, we all went to thepond to fish. We had a happy time,and caught quite a string of fishes,I caught but one. The pond lookedvery beautifully. Its surface was assmooth as a mirror, save when a passingzephyr slightly ruffled it for amoment, and all things on thebanks were reflected therein. Afterwe returned, our friends left us tovisit at Mr. Athearn's.Aug. 10. Sabbath. T.S.R. 60. 2 P.M. 100.S.S. 78. Today, an aged gentlemanand lady from near Stockton,came all the way out here on purposeto hear Mr. Bryer preach.They stopped here to inquire wherehe was, and we informed themthat he would be down in the newschoolhouse in about two hours topreach, and invited them to stopwith us until meeting time.
