Speaker Bio

Christopher Paulraj, Lead Administrative Patent Judge, Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), United States Patent and Trademark Office

Judge Paulraj received a BS in Biomedical Engineering and Polymer Science from Case Western Reserve University and a JD from American University, Washington College of Law. He first joined the USPTO in September of 1999 as an examiner in TC 1700, examining applications in the area of polymer composite technology, and left the Office in 2003. After some time as a patent litigator in private practice and with the U.S. International Trade Commission, Judge Paulraj rejoined the Office in 2014 as an APJ with the PTAB and was appointed a lead APJ in December 2017. In his role at the PTAB, Judge Paulraj primarily handles AIA trials proceedings in the biotechnology area.
