Description

I was struggling financially starting out as I am the primary breadwinner while my husband is in school. My tips to grow your career in a smart, affordable way include critique groups, free seminars, pitches at conferences, volunteering, working with editors. Also make sure you hire the right, well-vetted people so you don’t waste money.

Comments

Brandie June spent most of her early life on stage or at least as close to the front row as she could get. Initially an actor, she got her B.A. in Theatre from UCLA and began to branch out into costume design and playwriting. Her first stand-alone play, a dark comedy about Oscar Wilde, premiered last summer at the Hollywood Fringe Festival to a sold-out run and won the Encore Producers Award. As a writer, she has a passion for fantasy, receiving two Honorable Mentions from The Writers And Illustrators of the Future. Her first novel, one involving a cursed toad and creatures of mythology, is currently being submitted to publishers by her agent, Steven Hutson of WordWise Media Services. But wait! There’s more! Brandie also got her M.B.A. in Entertainment Marketing, also from UCLA, and finds having a marketer’s perspective extremely helpful with both her work marketing movies and T.V. shows and her role as an author. You can find out more about Brandie at www.BrandieJune.com or follow her @brandiejune.
