Abstract/Artist Statement

Blank was written to explore the richness in tone that the alto flute has to offer. The alto flute is not used often, so I wanted the listener to hear the full extent of not only its tone color, but also it's range. The lines are intended to push and pull as the rhythm moves faster and slower. I wanted the audience member to have no preconceived notions about what this piece should be, which is why I entitled it Blank. All are welcome to interpret this piece as they wish.
