Abstract/Artist Statement
The complexity of a culture can be studied through numerous modes of research, yet the study of structure and use of language is by far one of the most revealing. Proverbs, for example, when studied carefully can provide insight on the cultural rules regarding gender, elderly, fate and religion. In using a collection of proverbs from various Latin American countries, this paper presents a common culture as seen through the values alluded through these traditional sayings through research.
