to stop all this as far as possible. finish my article & get off across the sea. Everybody seems to know me by my writings & I am treated like a king. But I must get away to work. My first book ought to be out this fall. I wrote you a long letter yesterday. Love [ marginalia]

Dear Louie. I was at a grand dinner last night. Got home at half past one. Spoke or rather preached glaciers ice-bergs aur[illegible] flowers forests etc four hours, got up at six this morning, & still feel well. drank only one glass of champagne. Mean to try
