John Muir

Edward Hughes

Martinez, April 21/01 Mr. Edward Hughes, My dear sir, I heartily thank you for the lot of good clear Lassen photos. The sugar pines in several of the pictures are very good & with your permission would like to reproduce one or two of these. The view on Baily Creek is also good & that of the upper storm-beaten edge of Abies magnifica forest. The Cassiope you kindly brought me I prize. It is the first photo of my darling […] I have ever seen. Do try to get more of it & make some effort to get its charming companion bryanthus [?] also. I shall be glad to see you again. Come when you can. Ever cordially yours, John Muir
