My dear uncle John:
Many many thanks for Kenneth's and my share of your Christmas gift. It is so kind and thoughtful of you to remember such a lot of us every year.
Kenneth, the "young Indian" as you were pleased to dub him when you were here last is quite a boy now, with little yellow curls and eyes dark as ever. He has been running round for more than six months, exploring
his little world, a merry happy little fellow.
I received a nice letter from Aunt Maggie Reid tonight, in which she tells me that all the uncles, aunts, and cousins are well. She told me too of how she enjoyed your book, I have forgotten the name of it, but I must get a copy.
I have not been home for some time, but Grace spent the week before last with us, and I am hoping to have Celia out for a few days.
With love to all I am
Your affectionate niece
