John Muir

Berkeley, Cal.Oct. 17, 1894.

Mr. John Muir,My dear Sir:

Prof, Walcott is gone northward. We had a very pleasant dinner on Monday, but missed your genial presence. But I had a lecture that evening and had hardly gotten fairly to work at my dinner, hadn't yet gotten to the "Piece de resistance" when I had to leave the table.
I cannot bring up Walcott, of course, but as I have promised to come up and see you I will come next Saturday morning, if it suits you. If so, let me know, and what train I must take. Perhaps some other tire would suit you better. If so, say so.
Very truly yours,
Joseph LeConte
