[letterhead]Nov 30, 1911Dear Wanda,Ive not heard from you direct since leaving New York on this long trip south Helen however has kept me in touch with you all. I've just returned from a long trip across the Andes in Chile & received a lot of letters that had been forwarded from Para, Brazil one of which from Helen more than a month old brought the distressing news that you had been seriously ill. but reassuring me that you were better & would soon be well. I fondly hope that this has has proved true. For several years you have worked too hard You must be careful else you may bring on lifelong trouble. Do I pray take warning.I've been very successful in my S. American wanderings. All sought for I've found, & I'm now waiting for a steamer for South Africa. Tell the Postmaster to hold my mail, until farther instructions. Don't let the fine boys forget me Remember me to all the Valley friends, Good luck & best wishes to Tom. Ever your devoted fatherJohn Muir05124
