Los Angeles, Cal., Jan. 30, 1911.325 West Adams Street.Dear Mr. Colby:-Here I am again. Mr. Scott, the President of the Century Company, called on me today and told me that he was going to get out a new edition of "The Mountains of California." He is to restore the gilt edges that he scraped off some time ago, and the gilt lettering, and wants to add a dozen or so of new full page illustrations. I don’t think it will be safe to allow him to choose those illustrations so I would like to have you send me about two dozen of the best photographs of the Mt. Whitney and Tyndall region, and of Lyell and Dana, and if you have any, one or two views of Mt. Shasta, a good view of Tamalpais, two or three general views of Yosemite and Hetch Hetchy, and at least one good general view of the King’s River. Send two or three dozen and I will choose what like best, and have them charged to my account.I am glad to hear that Keith is improving, though I fear this rainy weather must be very trying to him.Faithfully yours,John Muir
