COFFICE OF THE PRESIDENTHARRISBURG, PA.July 27, 1910Dear Dr.Bade:I have yours of July 23, which came in my absence, with its proof of your very strong and telling editorial on the San Francisco situation. I think this will do good, and I am very glad you are saying Just what you have said.I was in New York yesterday and wanted to get to see you, but he heat and the pressure of things to do prevented. I have been talking pretty strongly with Mr. Pinchot recently, and I think that on the whole we have not lost ground through the current season. Our Mr. Kelsey is back from the west and he tells me that he finds divided counsels and much confusion in San Francisco. That is, the city is by no means together upon the matter.Yours, with best wishes. To Dr. W. F. Bade, [ILLEGIBLE]The Independent, PresidentI30 Fulton Street, N. Y.06289
