Mr Henry Randall

Worcester, Mass.
Dear Sir,
Are you the Harry Randall who in days of Auld lang syne was my companion in Yosemite? If so please write me a full account of yourself since you dropped from sight. Few of the old folks you used to know are left in the Valley. I was there a few weeks ago. Johnnie Smith is dead, so is Black Al. May & most of the old guides & workmen. Galen Clark 87 years old is still alive and well & lives in the Valley So is George Ki[nney?] Hutchings is keeping the Calaveras Grove Hotel with his fourth wife. Cosie is married & lives in Lassen Co. - But I'll tell no more until you write In the meantime I will venture to congratulate you & Mrs Randall on the

marriage of your daughter. Give me a complete history of your life since we parted & greatly delight
Your sincerely
John Muir
