My dear Mr. Muir:

While I was away from home here came your breezy, icy, bully letter' And the manuscript also reached us and was acknowledged by someone in the office, I believe. But anyway, here is my acknowledgment of it. One of these days I am going to write you a letter worthy of your cheerful spirit and kindly remembrance, and especially of your most commendable energy in getting your part of thie interesting book forward to us so promptly. Let me now simply send my heartiest good wishes and remain,
