Katharine Hooker

John Muir

Rome, Dec. 5.

My dear Mr Muir

This ship represents your three friends starting off for stranger lands. Constantinople and Cairo, think of it! We join my brother and his wife on the 10th and leave Italy together.
Marian and Eellie are quite excited. I am interested, but not to that point. I am really curious to see whether Egypt will weave a spell

round me, such as it seems to have done to many of my friends. Our love goes to you and best wishes for the coming year.
May you march to victory in the Hetch Hetchy battle!

Am affectionately Yours

Katharine Hooker
