Dear Mr. Muir_
On my return with Carol from our late winter & early spring visit abroad I found the copy of your new book "With the Compliments of the Author" & on my return the other day from Groton
I found your charming photograph - a very delightful picture of your dear self. You are so good to hold us in such kind remembrance & we appreciate it more than I can tell you I hear of your continued noble efforts to build the national road about your beloved vallies & I hope
for you complete success. Can I help you in any way My family are all so well & active I find I am expected to [view?] & share their interests & sports Roland graduates from Groton this week & next week Averell gets his degree from Yale. I am to be
on hand for both events & only wish you were taking another degree that we might share the fruit together my married daughters are happy & busy & Carol is still my Chief Companion at a less exciting moment I will write you a longer Epistle but much love & faithful friendship goes with this scrawl from Mary W.
