My dear Mr. Muir:-
Your fine and feeling tribute to my honored father has reached me, and I am deeply grateful for your kindness. I think there was none among my father's later friends with whom he felt such intimate

spiritual kinship as with you. I rejoice that you found one another out in the great turmoil of life.
In the current issue of The Dial , I have made an effort toward an outline of my father's life and work and personality. But I fear the result is woefully inadequate. It is futile to attempt
compressing a life of that sort into a few poor columns of type.
This issue of The Dial was already on the press when your matter reached me. But I shall get it in the next number.
With sincerest appreciation of your great kindness, I am
Faithfully yours,
Waldo R. Browne
