Mr John Muir,

Dear friend,

Previous to the great fire in San-Francisco, April 18th 1906. I had collected a large Album full of the Press notices, pictures and writings &c concerning yourself and Mr Keith, from the very beginning of your careers in America, down to that time. Mrs Keith had loaned it from his Studio, to Mrs Anna Pratt Simpson, and it was his impression, that she had returned it, if so, it was probably then destroyed. Since then, I have made another

large collection in another Album which I shall take pleasure in showing to you when we meet again.
When you called on your way home last week I was sieged with a desire to write my impression of your "all too short" a visit. I enclose it herewith. I hope you or your daughter, (Miss Helen) will honor it with a place in your album. Prof Howison was calling here the day after you arrived, and he pronounced it, "capital" which encouraged me to have it printed and send to you one of my five copies. With best wishes for your long life and continued usefulness, I am very sincerely
