[First draft of letter, in note-book]

[Helen Lukens Jones]

Martines, feb. 21, '05.

Dear Mrs. Jones:

I cannot help thinking that I have been rather overdone in the magazines of late; but if yon write the article for the Outlook, mentioned in your letter, all I can promise is that I will look over your manuscript before it is submitted to the publishers. The facts you want you can find in "Who's Who," or mere fully in an article by Ray S. Baker in the Outlook of June 6th, 1903. I am desperately busy, which makes it impossible for me to do more.
Heartily wishing you every success, I am,

faithfully yours,

[John Muir]
