[William E. Colby]

Martinez, Jan. 28, '05.

Dear Mr. Colby:

That clipping from the "Post" is a capital take-off on those fluffy, frothy, empty, bellowing speeches we heard the other day. It is useful, too, and has a good hard sting in it. Please sent me three or four more copies.

Faithfully yours,
[John Muir]

Dear Mr. Colby:

I see by to-day's Chronicle that the bill is to come up in the Assembly next Wednesday* When will you start for Sacramento?
Keith's little article reads pretty well, and does him great credit.

Faithfully yours,
