John Muir:

With the endorsement of Mr. Wm Keith I have found courage to write you to grant a great favor to the women of "Sorosis" a S. F. Branch of New York Sorosis founded by Jennie June and the Cary sisters twenty-eight years ago.
Literature, art, science, Philanthropy and whatever tends to broaden and uplift is for our consideration.
As one of the organizers of the Club in San Francisco, I am desirous to interest the members in the development of the State of Cal.
