glad Mother & I went to Grand Canyon
Martinez, Oct 28, 1897
My dear Lukens.
We all thank you for your kind letter & are glad to hear that you are all well.
How fine it was that Mrs Lukens was able to go to the Grand Canon. Ive just been writing a little about it at the end of an article that will appear in the Atlantic Monthly. Am now at work on the Yellowstone & then probably will try Alaska. So you see I'm busy & would be delighted to accept your invitation & trouting--but Cant you come up here with Mrs Lukesn, we'll be delighted
I'm sorry to hear Richardson has left us,- good mountaineers are not so many as to be easily spared.
Are you sure you saw Magnifica & Monticola only & Coatarta at Bear Valley.
With Kindest regards & love to Lottie
Ever Yours,
John Muir
