My Dear Bro Dan
Yours of 28 inst just arrived We are Satisfied the use you are making of the money, although we know nothing of the prospects of your city in the near future. If you get your information on that ¼ [sec] from a reliable source we think by all means [illegible] [you should do?] it, but in all your purchases be sure to get an abst[illegible] [illegible] & have it examined by a reliable lawyer
I have today written to John that we had sent you $400.00 & that as you had a first class place for other $400.00 he must according to agreement with me Send you [illegible] for that amt immediately on receipt of my letter. I have told him that you would get refusal of it long enough barely for the time the mail could be carried to Cal & ret to Lincoln In your letter you made no reference to the letter I wrote you a week ago (in [pencil?]) Still in order to get Jno to Send his money I have written him that you [agreed?] to it “Silence given consent” you know, but would rather have you say whether the terms are just or not. Remember me to your [friend?]
Your Bro D [illegible]
