March 9th, 1892.R. W. GILDER, EDITOR.
R. U. JOHNSON,
ASSOCIATE EDITOR.

ASSISTANT EDITOR.

John Muir, Esq.
Martinez, Cal.

My dear Mr. Muir:-

We were disposed at first to make use of Mr. Magee's communication in regard to the King's River Canon, but we already had a communication from Mr. Mackenzie on the park question, and we find that it will be inconvient to make room for both,
We send with the manuscript a typewritten copy which may be of use to you or Mr. Magee in finding a place for its publication.
Mr. Johnson sailed on the Werra for the Mediterranean on February 27th* His wife accompanied him. Newspapers have reported the arrival of the ship at Gibraltar yesterday mornings They expect, I believe, to travel in Italy while the weather permits, and then to work North to England, with the intention of returning home, if his health will allow, by the first of June. He was in fair condition when he sailed, though of course one does not got up from ten weeks of typhoid fever with strength for very much exertion.

Yours sincerely,

C.C. Buel
