Dear Bro Daniel

Your welcome letter reached me in my solitude tonight notwithstanding your faithlessness, My address is "Yosemite California [illegible] Big Oak Flat. Care JM Hutchings" I have been here all winter & will probably be here all summer I would receive your letter whether you sent to Hopeton or Snellings or Yosemite. I have friends that know me well & will forward wherever I go I am heartly glad to know that you are so enthusiastic in the prosecution of your studies with all my heart I wish you full success Doctor As for one I have run wild

send the image of your dear one as you promised I have got the saw- mill running. It went right to work like an old saw-mill the first minute of its exist[illegible] It belongs to Mr Hutchings I am making lumber for him now just think of working at the bottom of a fall 2600 feet in height I am glad you can hear the handling of "deed folk" May you be an or- nament & blessing to the living & always count Dan on my hand heart & purse for what they happen be worth I am sleepy & in haste so I will close with a prophecy You & your love will one day behold these wonderful rocks & waters, Affectionately John Muir
