David has got here to night and feels as crazy as a bed bug thinking about his dear he only stayed one night at his fathers in Portage and I guess he is going over to Kate to morrow to her some sweet stories ah John beware of this disorder for when you once get it you are fast but enough of this John I must close for I have to get up at Four o clock in the morning to go down to Portage with old Rosy to the Bucher now John be a good boy and take care of your self live to him who died for you yes John live the life of Jesus for all else is nothing that so you may feel him in the our of death and at the final day John Reid

Dear Brother John I read your wee short letter this morning you seem to be very much engaged in your studies it aint as it used to be you forget to write and when you do tis only mere scraps Perhaps you will say I don't do any better. but the truth is I am no better perhaps worse than when you saw me, and it is very hard for me take car of the "precious concern" as you call her But she is strong and healthy and for this I may be thankful she laughs and begins to relish fun. So John has great times, while with the baby, the pup and the kitten. Sarah was over here yesterday she looks and feels real well Anna is getting to be a big girl she is learning to sew and does real well for her age George is a broad, sturdy, pretty plowman looking fellow Father is storing his wheat up at the depot just now. they are drawing every day, sometimes they have taken more than a 100 bush, down with the two teams at once. Nell don't like it much and sometimes stands and looks over her shoulder till she pleases herself to go on. I was down at portage for a few days but was a good deal the worse for it I saw Dr Prentice when there he gave me some pills and a bottle of stuff to take when very sick I dont know whether the pills does me any good or not but I thought the bottle hurt me every time I took it so I do not take it at all. there is a doctor from Cambridge proffeasing to have great skill, coming to Mrs Cripps and he is to come to see me the next time he comes up If he cant do me any good I dont think I shall try any more This is Sunday John and John has taken Elen Whitehead home (she works for me just now) and father is by his own fire in the bedroom he is driving one of the teams so I thought I would write

Homer Fowler's wife is to be laid in the cold grave today she is not quite seventeen Alexander McRay is also dead and buried by the Catholic chapel by Robert's yonder. the funeral services was conducted by a priest in regular catholic style there was three or four hundred present but my little girlie is squalling in the bed and I must stop I heard that David was coming home the middle of this month I guess to see his Katie will almost be his first trip He wrote to Father to see if he had any serious objections to their marriage I think by the way father spoke to me about it perhaps he has and She has been teaching in Reid's district this winter she boarded with me the first three weeks but she went to Valentines on account of us coming here David seems to be very happy and attached to his Dutch friends I am glad you are all enjoying yourselves so well I would like to see you both George Reid was married the day we moved here Charlie has been teaching in Grahams district this winter Wiliam is working on his place Andred is at home and the rest are at Kate's School Mr Jones is I suppose preaching today for the last time in this place I suppose the most of the folks are tired of him I think I have told you all the news I thank you for your two we short letteries and hope to here from you soon I hope God will bless you through life and that we will spend a happy eternity in each others company and in that of all those who are near and dear to us with all the blessed From you affectionate sister Margt
