On the clear blue waters while the great hills watch on every side in grand shadowy masses A little rugged [Kirkyard] it is, a field of rank [waving] grass dotted with gray rocks carried thither from the [shore] to mark the resting plan of the sleeper. All along the face of the crags they make their home (sea birds) They float [in mid air] on the waters & they float in mid air with ceaseless [varying] cry, white gulls & gray gulls & kittiwakes & sea-swallows, black-headed gulls & snowy gannets, cormorants [&] innumerable with black glistening plumage & grandest of all, the little puffins with their [scarlet] beaks peeping out from the old rabbit holes teaching their fluffy infants their first lessons of life on the ocean [ ] A bluff wind worn headland against wh a heavy [surge] continually beats.

All is bathed in a soft lilac haze [ ] such small detail & the beautiful hills stand out in grand simple form Get awa steam [wi] your [deils[ rock I’m just sailing as it pleases the breath [of] God je rien ai plus Je les ai tous ecrasis A (Alaska) shore of smoothest yellow sand Yo The amazing strength & immutability of rock walls. Beautiful snowy white winged [sprarrits] with the wild eyes & eerie cry [sailing] the air [rejoicing] in the [calm] sunshine or bathing with storm wind & [ ] Clds [clouds] & rain that leaves all the mtn scenery to the imagination.
