Fine ride through glorious forests along the S.F. of Stanislaus good road many campers. Discovered and had good general view of Yo. At confluence of 3 forks. Landscape park garden 2 ms. Long Gorge at bottom chocked by ava. Blocks. The sheer parts of walls not very high 1000 ft? Rocks very irregular in clvg. Rough region all around. Chaparral covered slopes moraine sprinkled on N walls. Mosses picturesque Lava on summits. Yo called Donell’s Flat – he discovered it. Built. Camped at Douglass or Eureka Flag. A yo. With mostly sloping timbered or chaparral. The timber of S. wall of A magnic. Jeff pond on dry gravelly floor of valley – Contorta on hillside. The river a fine stream for ouzels and trout. Mr Doag here 30 yrs.
