[illegible]Home, Daggett, Cal. Oct. 15thDear Papa:-The box of quinces and plants came several days ago and now the little vines and rose bushes are putting out their roots in desert soil. They all seem to be doing well so far and I am giving them lots of water and care. They are all so finely rooted I feel certain they will grow. Thank you for the work of getting them for me. The Judge's grapes came the same day so I brought them down to him in the machine. He was much pleased and said tell you he was very much obliged. He sent an invitation to use his house for writing in when you come here, as he thinks it would be quieter. And now about your long-promised visit --- It is now cool enough for you to be comfortable here, yet not cold. The days are sunny and fine with cool nights and mornings, splendid clear air. PLEASE set some day you will be ready to come to the Desert, then let us know and Buel will come right up there to Muir Station and bring you here, so you wont have to bother a bit about the trip. Bring Mrs Parsons too if you feel you must write, and you can have a room for writing whereever you wish. Do as you want to about the writing only COME. If you came now you would get used to the colder weather gradually and I know you would be better off here than in the damp foggy weather you will have later up there, even tho you have fixed up the old house. I feel sure you could be comfortable here in this house. And just think -- I havent seen you for nearly two years. Let me know when you are coming.Baby still growing wonderfully. The rest of us also well.Lovingly Helen09247
