Home, Oct. 2, 1914.Dear Papa:-I received your letter saying you were going to send my vines and so I have been on the lookout for them. I feel sure they will do well as the ground around this yard is pretty good and there is lots of shade and water. All the things I have planted so far are doing beautifully. If the things you are sending this time grow I may ask for some others, if it is no trouble to you. I would like a nice wistaria root if there are any that could be dug up, a large one would be all the better. But Ill try what you are sending now first and then send for more if they all grow. I enjoy fussing with my vines and coaxing them to grow and they repay me beautifully for my care of them.We are all well as usual, the little boys all growing and so comfortable and good. My girl takes the work off my hands and leaves me plenty of time for the children and the little garden I am starting to make, now that the summer heat is over. I hold my weight of 138 lbs. tho little Buel keeps nursing and growing, and I do feel so well.When you were cleaning up the house did you run across some children's books in the closet in my old my room? There were two on one of the shelves in there the last time I was there, one about the "Babes in the Wood" and the other a larger one of stories and verses for children. I want both these saved for my boys to have when they are old enough to read. Somewhere in the old house there is a book on Insects that you gave me, also one full of magnificent photographs of animals. Can I have these someday for the boys I thought Ied speak of them so you would save them for me. I hope you keep well and that your book is going well too. Lovingly always Helen.[illegible]05860
