Century Club,7 West Forty-Third Street,Dec. 12, 1914.Dear Muir:Thank you for your interesting letter about Hetch Hetchy and for your mighty kind invitation for next year. I hope I may be able to come out. Just now the prospect isn't very good for it. But I appreciate your wish to see me.We are laying out some important activities for the Academy. It was a great occasion when Brieux in the official costume of the French Academy presented its greetings and good will. V/e have received the $100,000 of bonds and shall receive the four city lots within a fortnight. Altogether 1914 has been a great year for the Academy. We are soon going to be in collecting memorabilia about the members for the archives. What have you concerning yourself, in the way of portraits, manuscripts, published volumes, etc., etc. that you will contribute to these archives? Put on your thinking cap. Have you your first record of the discovery of the Muir Glacier? This will be the least merry Christmas of the whole Christian era, but one full of love and pity. Mrs. Johnson and I are helping Mme. Sembrich organize the relief for the Poles. A happy New Year to you, my beloved Muir.R. U. Johnson05895
