Portage is now a very busy place, and her boundaries are much enlarged every season many fine large buildings are going up [deleted word] how different it seems to be since you were last hereI think the farmers must be happy this year, as their produce of every kind is of so much more value than it has been for many years past John Reid has sold the farm, he had in the district where Sarah lives – he is still engaged in the same business at “Crete” that he had while here but on a more extensive scale I shall be glad to have a letter from you ere long And with love to all I amAffectionately Mother
