Introduction/Context/Diagnosis

All dental professionals try and try to increase our patients’ brushing habits; and they are lucky if they can convince a handful of patients to use that magical string – floss. But what happens if any patient has an even harder time to maintain their oral hygiene while wearing fixed appliances, specifically orthodontic appliances? By using Caries risk assessment guidelines we will try to provide our fellow colleagues in Orthodontics the tools that will help reduce white spot lesions caused by orthodontic treatment, and hopefully make them a problem of our past.
