Solution of a problem proposed in the Nova Acta Eruditorum in November 1743
According to Eneström, Euler wrote a letter to Christian Goldbach on 25 April 1744 indicating that he had completed this work.
Euler discusses the problem: To find a curve AMB on whose axis AB are given some two points C and D, so that, having drawn lines CM and DM to whatever point M on the periphery, the areas ACM cut off by point C are continually proportional to the angles ADM formed by the other point D.
