Paris prize article
This work was submitted to the Paris Academy Prize Competition for 1753. Euler analyzes various ways of propelling ships, including paddle wheels, screw propellers, and water jets. He applies his field theory of hydrodynamics to the problem. He was awarded an "Accessit" ("honorable mention") for this work.
