Proof of a theorem and solution of a theorem proposed in the Acta Eruditorum of Leipzig
According to Jacobi, a treatise with this title was read to the Berlin Academy on February 13, 1755. According to St. Petersburg Academy records, it was presented to that Academy on August 18, 1755.
Euler looks at properties of the elliptic integral. From the first paragraph: Half of an ellipse is cut in such a way that the difference of the parts is geometrically assignable. The geometric construction of an arc that is half of an elliptical quadrant is required. Also see E211.
