Abstract/Artist Statement

We can engage the Creekside After-School Bridge Program’s students by building a garden on Creekside’s grounds that will teach students about sustainability and how to care for the environment. The garden will be managed and maintained by a combination of students, faculty, and community members. The garden will provide students with hands-on learning experiences while also providing the community with fresh, locally-grown produce. Additionally, the garden will help to strengthen the connection between the school and the local community. The garden will also give students a sense of ownership and responsibility over something meaningful, thus increasing their engagement with the school and the program.
