Abstract/Artist Statement

Have you ever gone to a store to purchase few items or even a single item but end up waiting for hours in the checkout line? Do you hate waiting in long lines? Do you wish there was a faster way to checkout at stores? Well, fear no more, InstaShop is the answer to all your problem!

The objective of InstaShop is to develop a fully integrated mobile application where shoppers can have a faster and better checkout experience. The concept of InstaShop is simple and easy to learn. First, shoppers will need to go to a store and select items to buy. Once decided, shopped will take out their mobile device and open the app, “InstaShop”. Next, shoppers will use the application’s scanner function to scan items in their shopping cart and use an online payment such as a credit card, PayPal, android pay, or etcetara, to pay for their items. After a successful payment, shoppers will get an email receipt of their purchase which they can use to return items or keep track of their transactions. Also, shoppers have the ability to edit their shopping cart, where they can remove items, increase item count, or etc. InstaShop is the ideal application for the recent pandemic, COVID-19, because the application does not require a cashier so shoppers can maintain their distance and checkout their items on their own.

Many times, I have gone to a store to buy very few items but ended up waiting in lines for more than an hour. So, I have decided to create an application that would expediate the checkout experience so shoppers can spend more time on their meaningful day. On presentation day, the main focus will be the application itself. There will be props such as water bottles, tin cans, snacks, or other items with a barcode, which I will be using to display the scanner and checkout functionality of the application.
