Abstract/Artist Statement

A practical high yield total synthesis protocol was developed, from non-natural achiral starting materials, of partially functionalized N-protected and deprotected, mono- and bicyc!ic aminomethyl tetrahydropyrans, in several configurations. A synthesis of complex homoallylic alcohols from acetals was also developed. Bicyclic tetrahydropyran derivatives, i.e. C-disaccharides, were similarly prepared.
