AMERICAN CONSULAR SERVICEMontevideo, Uruguay, August 8 1912Dear Mr. Muir:Your very welcome letter arrived safely, and was welcome for many reasons, especially for the kind references to your stay here. It seemed that you and I chummed in so agreeably that I felt as though I had always known you. Frequently your many admirers here call and mention your or your work, always having something nice to say, for your talk at the Y.M.C.A. made many friends.Everything seems to be jogging along about as usual, with the usual ups and downs pertaining to this country. I have arranged for a picture of the CMBU tree at the Prado which will be sent to you when received. The books of yours received were; Stickeen, Mountains of California, Our National Parks, and Trees of California. They have been passed around all seeming to enjoy reading them. None came for the Minister nor for the Y.M.C.A. and the Secretary, Mr, Conard, is very concerned for fear they have miscarried.Stickeen is the sweetest book I have ever read. The others also were thoroughly appreciated, and I will be anxious to receive the others you promise. In return I will send some of my own.Trusting you are well and happy, and promising to see you on my next visit to the United States,Sincerely and faithfully yours,[ILLEGIBLE]05244
