We are camped opposite Whitney Creek. Yesterday we went down to the lake- wh is not of much account the fishy & [willowing?] . The canon is about 2000 ft deep here, & Yosemite like but rough. [illegible] the [head?] is said to be fe[illegible] & deeper. Everybody is happy The Doctors Merriam is leaving us this morning so I have a chance to send this. Well

We are all well & in the big Canon. Often by the way Helen & Wanda I have wished you were along, then again in the hot st[illegible] & dusty travels Ive been glad you were not. The [views?] of the Upper Ko[illegible]h were very fine & all enjoyed them. the Canon views as far as we have seen them are [inferior?] to those of Kings River
