Friend Muir:

I am glad you are to go to Shasta with Gray & Hooker. Had I had two days notice I would have gone, also, if your party had given me permission. It is now too late. I send enclosed letters to Cengden, Gatch and Bishop Mom’s. If you can, present all of them. You will find Pres. Gatch a pleasant Gentleman, and Bishop Mom’s is a plain genial man, who will know more of routes of travel, & how to get around, probably, than any one else in Oregon. All send kindly greetings, & hope you will have a splendid time. Very T[illegible] Chas. H. Allen.
