THE ALVARADO
Albuquerque, N.M.
Dec. 21, 1905.

Dear Doctor Merriam.

I'm sorry I missed seeing you before you left California. Helen is still at Adamana, Arizona and will probably be there or thereabouts another year or so, when we hope she will be about as well as ever. She seems to be steadily getting better even in the stormy winter weather and keeps up her merry ringing laugh through it all. Wanda and I are [page missing]. . . and the old Alhambra home is forlorn and desolate.A few weeks ago $ sent you a few holiday nuts etc. by freight directed to the Biological Survey which I suppose you have got ere this.
Remember me to all the Merriams and Washington friends.

Ever faithfully yours, with best wishes,
JOHN MUIR
