Dear Mr. Johnson:—
I greatly enjoyed your reply to my telegram. Where now is

I. he?
He has not appeared in the fight at all, but some months before the bill was prepared, he stated in an address before Horticultureal society that he was in favor of Federal management for Yosemite because the last time that he was there the salon keeper was found so ignorant he did not know how to prepare his favorite drink.
You will see by the inclosed clipping that the Government is already caring for the Valley.You may be sure I will do all I can to make Mrs. Woodhouse's visit to Yosemite as pleasant as possible, but it's not likely that I will be able to accompany her, for now that recession is off my hands I must bone down to work on the Yosemite book.
I hope Owen's book will be a grand success, and that you will all come flying hither together to our great delight.
